Professor Laurent Cleenewerck de Kiev is a French-American academic, theologian, and university administrator. He is a Professor of International Administration, Theology, and Bioethics at EUCLID (Euclid University) and serves as its Oversight Council Chairman and International Faculty Coordinator. He is a recognized specialist in interfaith diplomacy and the author of several works in comparative theology. Professor Cleenewerck's location is USA, and he holds dual nationality: France and USA. He also has served as the rector of St. Innocent Orthodox Church in Eureka, California, from 2007 to 2024.
Professor Cleenewerck holds multiple advanced degrees across several disciplines: Doctor of Science (DSc) in Religion from the St. Gregory Nazianzen Institute (affiliated with the Universidad Rural de Guatemala); PhD in Public Health from the Central University of Nicaragua (UCN) ;Master's in Ecumenical Studies from the Ukrainian Catholic University; Licentiate in Sacred Theology from the St. Sergius Orthodox Theological Institute in Paris; Diplôme d'Université d'Études Sociales et du Travail (DUEST) from the University of Montpellier and He also completed coursework at St. Tikhon's Orthodox Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania.
Professor Cleenewerck has been instrumental in the development of EUCLID, an intergovernmental university established by UN treaty. He has been involved since 2004 and currently holds several key positions: Professor of International Administration, Theology, and Bioethics; Oversight Council Chairman; International Faculty Coordinator and Associate Professor of Global Health and Bioethics at the Engelhardt School of Global Health and Bioethics
In addition to his work at EUCLID, Professor Cleenewerck has held or currently holds the following positions:
- Rector, St. Innocent Orthodox Church in Eureka, California (2007-2024)
- Global Academic Chairman at the Euler-Franeker Memorial University (EULER)
- Faculty Member at the Ukrainian Catholic University
- Former Secretary General of the Human Bioethics Treaty Organization
- Former Extension Faculty at Humboldt State University, where he taught courses in economics and other subjects
In 2016, Professor Cleenewerck was awarded the UN World Interfaith Harmony Prize, which he received from His Majesty King Abdullah of Jordan.
