EUCLID Faculty Profiles

Prof. Daniel Erdmann

Professor of Mediation and Conflict Resolution

With over a decade of experience as a habilitated Professor in Mediation and Conflict Management at EUCLID University, a sustained commitment to academic excellence and the advancement of conflict resolution as a rigorous scholarly discipline has shaped a distinctive pedagogical approach — one that integrates theoretical depth with applied, real-world practice. As the Founder and Director of the World Mediation Organization (WMO), this academic work is extended into the public sphere, translating research and teaching into tangible societal impact. Through teaching, mentorship, and applied leadership, the goal remains consistent: to equip practitioners, scholars, and future leaders with the intellectual tools and ethical grounding needed to navigate conflict constructively in an increasingly complex world.

Research & Interests:

With a wide-ranging scholarly profile, the research spans the intersecting fields of international peace and conflict studies, international politics and diplomacy, and security studies — with particular focus on counter-terrorism, societal fragmentation, and deradicalization. Published contributions include Springer book chapters examining the dynamics of polarized pluralism and the shifting architecture of a fragmented world order, the geopolitical complexities of the BRICS constellation, and the deeply personal dimensions of identity in peacebuilding processes. Earlier foundational works established a lasting contribution to applied conflict management methodology. Regular contributions to the WMO Conflict Insight Journal and the PIN Points network further reflect a sustained commitment to translating rigorous research into accessible, practitioner-relevant insights — addressing topics as diverse as civil resistance, cyber-terror, gender equality, and the epistemology of peace itself. Together, these works form a coherent intellectual project: understanding and responding to the forces that divide societies, and strengthening the structures — human and institutional — that hold them together.

Faculty Relationships at EUCLID:

At EUCLID, faculty interactions are intentionally personal, responsive, and relationship-centered. Students connect with professors primarily through direct email and scheduled Zoom sessions, creating regular opportunities for substantive dialogue rather than one-way communication.

Professors respond promptly to emails with detailed, constructive feedback and are readily available for one-on-one Zoom meetings to discuss coursework, research direction, thesis development, or career goals. These interactions are not limited to academic questions; they often evolve into ongoing mentorship relationships where faculty serve as professional and academic role models. Students benefit from professors’ real-world experience in global affairs, sustainable development, diplomacy, and related fields, gaining practical insights that complement the formal curriculum.

The emphasis is on genuine relationship building. Many students develop lasting professional connections with their professors, who actively support their academic progress and post-graduation objectives. This accessible, human-centered faculty model is a defining feature of the EUCLID experience, designed to foster intellectual growth, professional maturity, and meaningful scholarly collaboration.
