H.E. Faustin-Archange Touadéra (born 21 April 1957 in Bangui, Central African Republic) is a distinguished Central African academic, mathematician, and statesman widely recognized as the visionary founder and High Steward (Haut Patron) of EUCLID (Euclid University), a treaty-based intergovernmental university established under United Nations Treaty Series 49006/49007.
As High Steward since 2014, he provides high-level patronage and strategic guidance to the institution he helped conceive and launch, supporting its mission of capacity-building, sustainable development, and quality higher education for civil servants and government-sponsored students across participating states.
Visionary Role in International Administration & EUCLID’s Creation
- As Rector of the University of Bangui (2005–2008), Professor Touadéra launched the Euclid Consortium, an innovative international distance-learning initiative that evolved into the fully-fledged intergovernmental university EUCLID in 2008. His leadership was instrumental in bringing together African and European academic partners around a shared vision of accessible, practical higher education for governance and development.
- As Prime Minister of the Central African Republic (2008–2013), he signed the formal instrument of participation for his country in EUCLID (May 2010) and oversaw the conclusion of the headquarters agreement, embedding the institution within the framework of intergovernmental cooperation.
- His foundational contributions transformed a university-level consortium into a recognized multilateral organization with participating states, a UN Treaty Series registration, and a mandate focused on global governance, public administration, sustainable development, and interfaith dialogue.
This pioneering work demonstrates deep practical experience in designing and operationalizing intergovernmental educational mechanisms—skills highly relevant to senior leadership in multilateral institutions.
Academic and Professional Background
Professor Touadéra holds two PhDs in Mathematics (University of Lille, France, and University of Yaoundé, Cameroon). He served as Professor of Mathematics and Vice-Chancellor at the University of Bangui before his rectorship, where he also introduced key initiatives such as entrepreneurship training programs.
He was elected President of the Central African Republic in 2016 and re-elected for subsequent terms, bringing the prestige of a head of state to his ongoing role as EUCLID's High Steward. His unique trajectory—from academic innovator to prime minister to president—embodies the values of public service, intellectual leadership, and commitment to development that EUCLID seeks to promote across its global network.
As the visionary founder and High Steward, H.E. President Faustin-Archange Touadéra continues to inspire EUCLID's evolution as a bridge between academia, governance, and international cooperation.
