I had always wanted to pursue and advance myself in the social sciences because the physical sciences limited one's knowledge to finite problems that were rather deterministic in exact terms. I needed to understand how the world and the economies operated in a broader perspective. I had the idea of bridging the physical and social sciences to leverage the strengths of both. I was progressing towards a PhD in Computational Chemistry at the premier University here in Nigeria. However, I had a nagging gap in my heart. I have been involved in several development programs and have noticed that I no longer need as much chemistry or engineering to solve the problems I see. It required grounded knowledge in a field that combines the physical subjects like chemistry and physics, mathematics, and social subjects like economics, ecology, and social interactions. My former CEO challenged my current status, and I began my search, which led me to EUCLID and to undertake doctoral studies in Sustainable Development and Diplomacy.
EUCLID afforded me time to study at my own pace while applying the knowledge I gained in my career during coursework and interactions with several faculty members. It was a system: a distance-learning system that I saw would strongly help me ground myself in the subject and also function at a high level as a development expert.
Studying at Euclid strengthened my thought lines and approach to several challenges through the interdisciplinary training it provided. Initially, I could not turn the challenges into solutions with a physical science-based mindset. World-class study resources enhanced this greater capacity for problem-solving. My take is that EUCLID University effectively combines academic excellence with an affordable yet flexible approach to learning. It's international recognition provides the right mix for anyone to advance their career, whether in public service, private enterprise, or academic research.
