Dr. Fr. Akpe O. Stephen

Senior Lecturer

Akpe O. Stephen is a Priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Jos, Nigeria, and Currently doubles as the Parish Priest of St. Joseph, Du and since 2010, the Assistant Coordinator of the Justice Development and Peace Caritas, and Founder of St. Fracis of Assisi Peace and Non-violence Society.

Dr. Akpe has a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy (BPhil) from the Pontifical Urbaniana University, Rome, Italy, and a Bachelor's Degree in Sacred Theology (BTH) from the Urbaniana University, Rome, Italy. By 2012, he was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Education. To further strengthen his development capacity and capability, Akpe was at the African Peacebuilding Institute, South Africa, where he obtained a Certificate in African Peacebuilding. He went on to bag a Master's Degree in Development Studies from the Kimmage Development Study Centre (KDSC), Ireland, in 2017, and further bagged a Doctoral Degree in Mediation and Conflict Resolution in August 2022.

Research & Interests + Publications:

Akpe also conducted several professional trainings such as Trauma Healing, Psychological First Aid (PFA), Safeguarding Mechanisms, Compliance Procedures, Organisational Assessment Training, Civilian Peacebuilding, Resource Mobilisation (RM), and Project Cycle Management (PCM), among others. Dr. Akpe has a deep interest in development, specifically in Interfaith Relations, Environment and Development, Terrorism Scholarship, Peacebuilding and Conflict Transformation, and Diplomacy. He has travelled through different villages in Nigeria and many grassroots communities, as well as participated in national and international conferences across the world. Dr. Akpe enjoys travelling, reading, and fraternal company. His philosophy of life is summed up in the following words, “He makes everything beautiful at his own time” (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

Faculty Relationships at EUCLID:

At EUCLID, faculty interactions are intentionally personal, responsive, and relationship-centered. Students connect with professors primarily through direct email and scheduled Zoom sessions, creating regular opportunities for substantive dialogue rather than one-way communication.

Professors respond promptly to emails with detailed, constructive feedback and are readily available for one-on-one Zoom meetings to discuss coursework, research direction, thesis development, or career goals. These interactions are not limited to academic questions; they often evolve into ongoing mentorship relationships where faculty serve as professional and academic role models. Students benefit from professors’ real-world experience in global affairs, sustainable development, diplomacy, and related fields, gaining practical insights that complement the formal curriculum.

The emphasis is on genuine relationship building. Many students develop lasting professional connections with their professors, who actively support their academic progress and post-graduation objectives. This accessible, human-centered faculty model is a defining feature of the EUCLID experience, designed to foster intellectual growth, professional maturity, and meaningful scholarly collaboration.
