Tell a bit more about your personal and professional background:
"I'm a Mexican diplomat, writer and journalist who is currently based in Barcelona. I've had the privilege of serving my country as Ambassador and to travel the world reporting on current news, while publishing five books and raising a family and a 15 years old Jack Russell."

What led you to desire to pursue advanced academic studies via open learning and at EUCLID in particular?
"I always wanted to further my education and pursue a degree beyond my Masters, Euclid flexible scheme allowed me to do so while continue working in a very demanding environment as a diplomat serving abroad."

What can you tell about your learning experience so far?
"Euclid's learning experience is unique since it allows you to advance at your own pace and have a very direct and rich exchange with faculty members and assigned supervisors and professors."

Biography:

Diego Gómez Pickering KCVO (born 1977, Mexico City) is a distinguished Mexican diplomat, award-winning writer, and journalist. A career member of the Mexican Foreign Service since 2007, he served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Kingdom (2013–2016), where he strengthened bilateral ties during the landmark Mexico-UK Dual Year and was personally invested by Queen Elizabeth II with the Honorary Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order. He was also named Diplomat of the Year for North America and the Caribbean by Diplomat magazine. He later served as Consul General of Mexico in New York City (2016–2018). Holder of a B.A. in International Relations from ITAM, an M.A. in Cultural Development from Columbia University, and postgraduate studies in journalism from India’s IIMC, he has held key roles at the UN (including in Nairobi and Damascus) and as Director for Foreign Media in the Mexican Presidency. A prolific author, his acclaimed books—such as the novel La primavera de Damasco and the chronicles Diario de Londres and Cartas de Nueva York—have been translated into multiple languages. He currently resides in Barcelona, where he continues his literary and journalistic work.
