Pr Charles Boampong Sarfo

Senior Lecturer of Religion, Theology and Liturgy

Very Reverend Father Dr. Charles Boampong Sarfo is a Senior Lecturer of Religion, Theology, and Liturgy at EUCLID (Euclid University), where his research focuses on the intersection of theological tradition and contemporary ecological ethics. Holding a Ph.D. in Theology with a specialization in Sacred Liturgy from the University of Calabar, as well as a Licentiate in Sacred Theology (STL), his scholarly work is rooted in the Catholic intellectual tradition. His research is notably exemplified in his publication, "Liturgical Celebration of the 'Sabbath' and its Implications for Ecological Harmony in Laudato Si'," which appeared in the Journal of Inculturation Theology. This work directly engages with Pope Francis's encyclical on the environment, exploring how the theological concept of the Sabbath can inform and enrich contemporary ecological stewardship. Additionally, his teaching interests include a focused study on "Ecological Liturgy in Africa: A Theological-Liturgical Study of Laudato Si'," demonstrating a sustained commitment to inculturating global ecotheological concerns within the African context

Research & Interests + Publications:

Beyond his academic research, Father Sarfo has a distinguished record of ecclesiastical and social leadership. He serves as the Assistant Secretary General of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference and has also acted as the National Director of Caritas Ghana, the Conference’s charitable arm, where he has advocated for economic justice and debt cancellation on behalf of vulnerable populations. In his pastoral and administrative roles, he has been a vocal proponent of authentic liturgical renewal, arguing for a liturgy that is both truly Christian and truly Ghanaian, while cautioning against the loss of sacred silence in favor of mere entertainment. His commitment to formation is further evidenced by his work as an Adjutant Lecturer at St. Paul’s Catholic Seminary in Accra, Ghana, where he helps shape the next generation of clergy. In his public ministry, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Sarfo has consistently called for integrity and honesty, urging Christians to be a "light" in society by rejecting commonplace dishonest practices.

Faculty Relationships at EUCLID:

At EUCLID, faculty interactions are intentionally personal, responsive, and relationship-centered. Students connect with professors primarily through direct email and scheduled Zoom sessions, creating regular opportunities for substantive dialogue rather than one-way communication.

Professors respond promptly to emails with detailed, constructive feedback and are readily available for one-on-one Zoom meetings to discuss coursework, research direction, thesis development, or career goals. These interactions are not limited to academic questions; they often evolve into ongoing mentorship relationships where faculty serve as professional and academic role models. Students benefit from professors’ real-world experience in global affairs, sustainable development, diplomacy, and related fields, gaining practical insights that complement the formal curriculum.

The emphasis is on genuine relationship building. Many students develop lasting professional connections with their professors, who actively support their academic progress and post-graduation objectives. This accessible, human-centered faculty model is a defining feature of the EUCLID experience, designed to foster intellectual growth, professional maturity, and meaningful scholarly collaboration.
