Prof. Cajetan Ebuziem

Professor of Philosophy, Theology and Interfaith Studies

Ebuziem is a Nigerian American Catholic priest, theologian,
philosopher, author, and academic based in Fresno, California, USA. He
was ordained for the Catholic Diocese of Okigwe, Nigeria, in 1996. He
was a Campus Chaplain at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Chaplaincy,
Gregory University Uturu, Nigeria, where he engaged in teaching and
administrative roles as a University Professor (2018-2022). Ebuziem is
an avid writer and traveler, being also a member of three
international professional bodies: the Academic Council of the United
Nations System (ACUNS) with Headquarters in Washington, DC, USA; World
Congress of Faiths (WCF) with Headquarters in London, UK; and National
Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC) with Headquarters in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA.

Research & Interests:

Professor Ebuziem's research focuses on Igbo (Nigerian) contextual theology and inculturation, evidenced by his book Doing Ministry in the Igbo Context: Towards an Emerging Model and Method for the Church in Africa, published by Peter Lang New York in 2011in its Bible and Theology in Africa series. He also focuses on interfaith relations, preventive diplomacy, and peacebuilding as seen in his other opus magnum, Considering the Other Side: Interfaith Diplomacy in Nigeria, published by Euclid University, Washington DC in 2018. He has written numerous articles, appeared in interviews and podcasts discussing topics like religious intolerance in Nigeria. Ebuziem continues to teach courses in philosophy, especially “Argumentation and Critical Thinking,” in theology and in religion.

Students benefit from professors’ real-world experience in global affairs, sustainable development, diplomacy, and related fields, gaining practical insights that complement the formal curriculum.

Many students develop lasting professional connections with their professors, who actively support their academic progress and post-graduation objectives.
