Overview

Note: EULER programs are distinguished from EUCLID programs but also closely related as (1) they have slightly different areas of specialization (based on the list of degrees in the initial charter (2) they rely on very similar methods and platforms (3) the final degree is conferred by EUCLID but with the EULER logo added and dual degree option (two degrees, one from EUCLID (Euclid University – intergovernmental) and one from EULER (The Euler-Franeker Memorial University) starting ~10/2024.

In cooperation with EUCLID, an intergovernmental treaty-based organization with a university mandate, EULER offers to select students from the general public an online master in biostatistics (also covering epidemiology and public health) with an optional focus on Global South issues.

Other related programs dealing with public and global health are:

(1) The “EUCLID Master of Science in International Public Health (MIPH)

(2) The “EUCLID Ph.D. in International Public Health (DIPH).

Our academic partner EUCLID (Euclid University) also maintains a dedicated website at: https://globalhealth.euclid.int

It is, to date, the only Master’s degree program in this field offered in active cooperation with a leading international intergovernmental organization.

Its purpose is to prepare highly qualified public health professionals able to serve in civil service, international organizations, health care institutions, as well as non-governmental organizations globally.

Academic Presentation

Public Health is often studied from a national or US-centric perspective. Few programs are truly international in scope so as to fully prepare graduates for global civil service careers that will engage a wide variety of global health challenges, including malaria, HIV, drug-resistance, diet-related diseases, etc. This vision is supported by a strong focus on the quantitative (statistical) aspect of public health research, and therefore a strong core covering: statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, and clinical trials.

To answer this challenge, EULER has designed a comprehensive and challenging online master’s degree in public health (MPH) curriculum with a major in biostatistics and a minor/sub-specialty in epidemiology and public health. The comprehensive information associated with this program will enable students globally to determine if this program is best for them.

AUDIENCE | INTEREST GROUPS

This unique Master’s degree focuses on the practical and policy aspects of public health rather than the advancement of academic knowledge or theoretical knowledge.

The EULER MPH / Biostatistics was developed on the strong foundation of the EUCLID MIPH which was primarily designed to serve civil servants of EUCLID’s Participating States, but it is also open to the general public as an excellent route to pursue a career within inter-governmental bodies, NGOs and the public sector.

Thanks to its low tuition and institutional relationships, and because it covers such topics as malaria and tropical diseases in depth, it is expected to be of special interest to Global South students.

Requirements

Applicants should have a relevant Bachelor’s degree (including nursing degree) issued by an institution listed in the UNESCO-IAU handbook/database. Similar or related backgrounds with adequate professional experience may be considered Government-sponsored applicants (who are already government staff) may be admitted without the required educational credential if their level of education and experience is deemed sufficient. EUCLID may require these participants to complete bridge courses prior to enrolling in the program. Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required and will be tested. Students are expected to be in a position to dedicate 10 to 15 effective hours of study on a weekly basis.
