EUCLID University Vice-Chancellor Professor Fanneh Attends Sixth Edition of Vice-Chancellors Forum at ICESCO Headquarters

Banjul, Gambia – June 24, 2025 – EUCLID University, a leading intergovernmental institution dedicated to sustainable development and global education, is proud to announce that its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Momodou Mustapha Fanneh, participated in the Sixth Edition of the Vice-Chancellors Forum, held at the headquarters of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) in Rabat, Morocco, from June 24–25, 2025. This prestigious gathering brought together university leaders from across the Islamic world to discuss transformative strategies for higher education under the theme “Higher Education in the Islamic World: Impact and Prospects.”

The Vice-Chancellors Forum, a flagship initiative of ICESCO, serves as a platform for fostering collaboration, innovation, and policy dialogue among academic leaders. This year’s event focused on addressing contemporary challenges in higher education, including digital transformation, sustainability, and the alignment of academic programs with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Professor Fanneh’s attendance underscores EUCLID’s commitment to advancing global academic excellence and contributing to sustainable development, particularly within the Islamic world and beyond.

During the forum, Professor Fanneh engaged in high-level discussions with vice-chancellors, policymakers, and representatives from ICESCO member states, sharing insights on EUCLID’s innovative approaches to online education and its role in training future leaders in diplomacy, public health, and sustainable development. He highlighted EUCLID’s unique intergovernmental model, which emphasizes accessibility, inclusivity, and intercultural dialogue, aligning with ICESCO’s mission to promote education, science, and culture for peace and prosperity.

“Participating in the Sixth Edition of the Vice-Chancellors Forum is a testament to EUCLID’s dedication to shaping the future of higher education,” said Professor Fanneh. “By collaborating with global academic leaders at ICESCO, we are advancing our shared vision of education as a catalyst for sustainable development and intercultural understanding, in line with SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).”

Professor Fanneh, appointed EUCLID Vice-Chancellor in 2023, brings a distinguished record of leadership from his tenure as Dean of the School of Business and Public Administration at the University of The Gambia. His contributions to curriculum development, policy research, and inclusive education have positioned him as a visionary leader in higher education. At the forum, he emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to expand access to quality education, particularly in underserved regions, and showcased EUCLID’s online programs as a model for scalable, high-impact learning.

The event featured keynote addresses, panel discussions, and workshops on topics such as artificial intelligence in education, green campuses, and the role of universities in addressing climate change. Professor Fanneh’s participation reinforced EUCLID’s strategic partnerships with international organizations and its commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive academic environment, as articulated in its core value of Interfaith & Intercultural Skills.

“Professor Fanneh’s presence at the ICESCO Vice-Chancellors Forum elevates EUCLID’s global profile and strengthens our collaboration with institutions across the Islamic world,” said EUCLID’s Director of Communications. “His visionary leadership continues to drive our mission of delivering world-class education that empowers communities and advances sustainable development.”

As EUCLID continues to expand its academic offerings and international partnerships, Professor Fanneh’s engagement at ICESCO highlights the university’s pivotal role in shaping higher education for a sustainable future. The outcomes of the forum are expected to inform EUCLID’s strategic initiatives, including new programs in digital health, climate resilience, and global governance.
