Dr. Khosro Fazelpoor

Senior Lecturer in Ecology and Climate

Dr. Khosro Fazelpoor is a Senior Lecturer in Ecology and Climate at EUCLID (Euclid University). He holds a Ph.D. in Ecology, Conservation, and Restoration of the Environment from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and a Master's degree in Environmental Engineering with a focus on the Marine Environment. Based in Spain and of Iranian nationality, he completed his doctoral research in Spain before joining the faculty at EUCLID. His professional affiliations include a visible online presence on ResearchGate and LinkedIn, where he connects with the broader scientific community in the fields of ecology and environmental science.

Dr. Fazelpoor's teaching centers on environmental science and climate action. His pedagogical approach emphasizes understanding the complex relationships between human activities and natural systems, with particular interests in hydro-morphology and the development of emerging metrics for assessing river systems, river morphology, and the application of remote sensing analysis. These interests reflect a commitment to equipping students with the interdisciplinary tools required to address pressing ecological and climatic challenges.

Research & Interests:

Dr. Fazelpoor’s research is dedicated to analyzing the effectiveness of mitigation measures on water quality while considering future changes in population growth, land use, and climate change. His scholarly output focuses on the geomorphological evolution of river systems and the application of remote sensing and machine learning techniques. Key publications include “Geomorphological Evolution Along International Riverine Borders: the Flow of the Aras River Through Iran, Azerbaijan, and Armenia” (2021, Journal of Environmental Management; DOI: 10.1016/j.jenvman.2021.112599) and “Remote Sensing and Machine Learning Techniques to Monitor Fluvial Corridor Evolution: the Aras River Between Iran and Azerbaijan” (2021). Additionally, he has co-authored “Exploring the hydromorphological response to human pressure in Tagus River (1946–2014)” (2020, CATENA) and “Increased artificiality trend driven by an inter-basin water transfer on the Zayandeh-rud River floodplain in Iran” (2022). His work also includes studies on the Strait of Hormuz, such as “Estimate the Numerical Values of Environmental Parameters Using MODIS Sensor in the Strait of Hormoz” (2016, Journal of Oceanography). These publications collectively advance the understanding of river dynamics, land cover changes, and the environmental impacts of human pressures on aquatic ecosystems.

Faculty Relationships at EUCLID:

At EUCLID, faculty interactions are intentionally personal, responsive, and relationship-centered. Students connect with professors primarily through direct email and scheduled Zoom sessions, creating regular opportunities for substantive dialogue rather than one-way communication.

Professors respond promptly to emails with detailed, constructive feedback and are readily available for one-on-one Zoom meetings to discuss coursework, research direction, thesis development, or career goals. These interactions are not limited to academic questions; they often evolve into ongoing mentorship relationships where faculty serve as professional and academic role models. Students benefit from professors’ real-world experience in global affairs, sustainable development, diplomacy, and related fields, gaining practical insights that complement the formal curriculum.

The emphasis is on genuine relationship building. Many students develop lasting professional connections with their professors, who actively support their academic progress and post-graduation objectives. This accessible, human-centered faculty model is a defining feature of the EUCLID experience, designed to foster intellectual growth, professional maturity, and meaningful scholarly collaboration.
