EUCLID Report on visits to Rwanda and Ethiopia

EUCLID (Euclid University) today released details of the recent official mission undertaken by Professor Laurent Cleenewerck, which strengthened institutional partnerships in Rwanda and Ethiopia.

In Kigali, Rwanda, Professor Cleenewerck conducted a formal visit that combined the delivery of a specialized UNITAR course on peacekeeping with high-level meetings at the Ministry of Defense. Discussions centered on the practical implementation of the EUCLID–Ministry of Defense Memorandum of Understanding, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to advancing capacity-building programs in public administration, sustainable development, and intergovernmental cooperation. On this occasion, the Rwanda Higher Education Council issued a certificate of full equivalency for a EUCLID PhD conferred in November 2026 to Rwandan student and retired military officer.

Professor Cleenewerck then traveled to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he held constructive meetings with the Vice-President of Holy Trinity University, Prof. Abba Hailegebriel Girma (PhD, EdD, PsyD), to explore enhanced academic collaboration. He also engaged with two senior Ethiopian government officials: H.E. Asrat, State Minister of Transport and a distinguished EUCLID alumnus, and H.E. Habtamu, Minister of Mines.

“These visits illustrate EUCLID’s ongoing dedication to translating intergovernmental agreements into concrete action and to supporting the professional growth of public-sector leaders across Africa,” Professor Cleenewerck stated.

The mission underscores EUCLID’s strategic role as an intergovernmental university committed to fostering sustainable development, academic excellence, and practical partnerships with governments and institutions worldwide.
