EUCLID’s online master on global economics and development (MGED) builts on the institution's area of core expertise which is sustainable development and diplomacy.
The EUCLID MGED is closely related to the EUCLID MBA in Sustainable Development and has been ranked in the world's top 25 since 2016 for a good reason: it is offered by an international intergovernmental organization with a university mandate and specialized expertise in sustainable development. Historically, EUCLID grew out of the cooperation between universities and the International Organization for Sustainable Development (IOSD) which was the original SD international organization and which is now a EUCLID-affiliated institute.
The MGED is the only master’s degree program in this area of expertise organized by an international intergovernmental organization with a university mandate, and it is part of a family of graduate programs officially used by senior civil servants over 4 continents. It is also highly relevant to managers and executives working for multinational companies.
EUCLID’s MGED offers a strong core of economics concepts capped with high-level courses covering economic development, sustainability, ecological economics, etc.
Graduates can expect to complete the program transformed and enhanced in their ability to make a difference in global development and sustainability.
EUCLID's online master in global economics and development program assumes an undergraduate knowledge of micro and macroeconomics.
The curriculum goes on to provide a progression of courses covering theories of economic development (including the authoritative Todaro textbook), case studies, ecological economics, etc.
Sustainable economic development is considered from a Global South angle as well as from major Western/OECD sources.
This is a program that is suitable for civil servants working for EUCLID Participating States and can be considered an excellent route to pursue a career within governmental bodies, NGOs, global corporations and international organizations.
Within certain parameters, the curriculum is customizable, with elective courses focusing on:
