Requirements

Audience / Interest Groups

This unique PhD program focuses on the practical and policy aspects of global public health rather than the advancement of purely theoretical knowledge. It was primarily designed to serve civil servants of EUCLID’s Participating States, but it is also open to the general public as an excellent route to pursue a career within inter‑governmental bodies, NGOs, international organizations (e.g., WHO, UNICEF), and the public sector.

Thanks to its low tuition and institutional relationships, and because it covers topics such as tropical diseases, antimicrobial resistance, pandemic preparedness, and health systems strengthening in depth, it is expected to be of special interest to Global South and African students.

 Admission Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • A relevant Master’s degree (typically labeled MPH, MSc in Public Health, MSc in Infectious Diseases, or equivalent) issued by an institution listed in the UNESCO‑IAU World Higher Education Database (WHED).

  • Similar or related backgrounds (e.g., medicine, nursing, pharmacy, epidemiology, microbiology) with adequate professional experience may be considered.

  • Government‑sponsored applicants (already government staff) may be admitted without the required educational credential if their level of education and experience is deemed sufficient; bridge courses may be required.

  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required and will be tested.

  • Students are expected to be able to dedicate 10 to 15 effective hours of study weekly.

EUCLID has ongoing (continuous) enrollment for this program. While applications may be submitted several months in advance, it is recommended to apply 40‑60 days prior to the intended start date.
